Lodging

Events at this year’s MODchicago weekender will be held in the Lincoln Park, Ukrainian Village, and Logan Square neighborhoods.

Chicago has good public transit and cabs are everywhere, so your best bet for lodging will be your favorite travel website. You’ll likely get a room downtown, in the “Loop.” For CTA maps and schedules, visit www.transitchicago.com – O’Hare Airport is located on the Blue Line, Midway Airport is on the Orange Line. Both make connections for transfers downtown.

Hotels on the north side offer better shopping and atmosphere. If you plan on using public transportation, you may have to take a train to downtown and transfer to various lines. The Inn at Lincoln Park and the Days Inn Chicago at Lincoln Park have been popular for past events, with reasonable rates. Both are located near the corner of Diversey, Clark, and Broadway.
Inn at Lincoln Park
601 West Diversey Parkway
(773) 348-2810‎
Days Inn Chicago
644 West Diversey Parkway
(773) 525-7010

Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood is centrally located between all of the venues, and offers good shops and dining. The closest accommodations are two nearby B&B’s:
The Wicker Park Inn
1329 N Wicker Park Avenue
(773) 486-2743
Rates Per Night: $139 – $199
House of Two Urns
1239 N Greenview Ave
(773) 235-1408
Rates Per Night: $99 – $159
Both offer apartments as well, so check each website for more info.

The Loop’s Hotel Burnham is a top boutique hotel in the city, housed in a restored landmark 1895 skyscraper, The Reliance Building, with a good restaurant – The Atwood Cafe – named after the building’s architect, Charles Atwood. If you’re interested in saving extra cash (to spend on rare vinyl, of course!) HI-Chicago has a downtown hostel, with rates from $29-$35 per night.

Looking for something riche? The Elysian opened January 2010 and is Chicago’s most luxe boutique hotel. The Sofitel has a hotel near N Michigan Ave, designed by French architect Jean-Paul Viguier that has become popular with the weekender crowd. There are two W hotels, including one on Lake Shore Drive – amazing lakefront views here. Live it up!
